2When is the best time to put down soil to reseed your lawn?
Best time would be the fall. You avoid the summer heat and dryness. Grass stores nutrients over fall and winter, priming themselves for optimal spring growth.
3What is the best product to use when reseeding your lawn?
You can use our 3/8 screened topsoil or you can use the AllTop which is a mixture of our 3/8 screened topsoil and farm compost.
4What is topsoil?
It refers to the layer of soil that is found on the surface of the ground, anything down to around 12 inches in depth.
5Do you carry anything besides topsoil and mulch?
We also carry decorative stone, sand, Q.P, stonedust, boulders, and golf course materials.
6How many bags of mulch are in a yard?
There is 13.5 bags of mulch in a yard if the bag carriers 2 cubic feet. 1 yard equals 27 cubic feet.
7How many wheelbarrows in a yard?
- 14 wheel barrows sized at 2 cubic feet equal 1 yard.
- 9 wheel barrows sized at 3 cubic feet equal 1 yard.
8How deep should I install mulch?
On first install mulch should be put down 3 inches.
9What is the benefit of using mulch?
It helps retain moisture in the soil, contributes to soil health, reduces winter injury, helping with weed control, slows down the evaporation of water from the soil so that you dont have to water as often.
10Why is it not beneficial to over-mulch?
Yes, if mulch accumulates over 5 inches it can cause root rot that will kill your plants.
11Can you deliver more than one product on your truck?
No, our truck does not have a divider and will cause the products to mix together.
12Can you deliver material into the backyard?
JA Cruse Materials is a driveway delivery only, however we could deliver material into the backyard but the driver makes the determination on site based on conditions.
